Warnings and Penalties

1. For breaking fight rules, the athlete may receive a warning, caution, or be disqualified.2. A caution is given after prior notice.

Caution may be given for actions threatening the opponent’s health or influencing the course/result of the fight, in particular:

Kicks to the head when the opponent has three or more points of support.

Intentional fouling.

Lowering the head in attack, headbutts, turning away.

Strikes to the neck, kidneys, below the belt, or to the back.

Dirty fighting and forbidden techniques.

Unsportsmanlike behavior of the athlete or coach.

Coach entering the mat.

Athlete leaving the mat.

Penalty System:

1st rule violation → Notice.

2nd rule violation → Caution (Shido).

3rd rule violation → Disqualification.

Caution must be given loudly and clearly, so that both athletes and coaches can hear and understand.

Before giving a penalty, the referee must stop the time.

Cautions for fouls are recorded separately and summed throughout the match.

Immediate disqualification occurs if:

1. An illegal action causes injury to the opponent.2. The opponent is unable to continue after receiving an illegal or strong strike (referee consults with doctor).3. Even if the opponent is willing to continue, but the referee (in consultation with the doctor) decides that continuation endangers health. An athlete not cleared by the doctor cannot participate further.4. An athlete strikes after the “stop” command.5. Particularly unsportsmanlike behavior by the athlete or coach (e.g., insults, pushing, vulgar language).

Referee Signals during the Fight

Notice – raising hand above the head.

Caution (Shido) – diagonal downward hand movement.

Disqualification – crossing arms in front of the athlete.

Coaches and Seconds

1. Only one coach/second may assist the athlete, seated in a designated area near the competition zone.2. If the coach behaves improperly towards athletes, referees, audience, or others, the Mat Referee may ban coaching during the fight.3. If misbehavior continues, the referees may exclude the coach from the entire tournament.4. If the coach does not follow referee instructions, the athlete may face consequences, including disqualification.

Weigh-in and Medical Examination

1. Athlete weigh-in takes place on the day of competition. Optionally, it may be held the day before, if the event announcement specifies.2. Two representatives of the Referee Committee must be present at weigh-in.3. Weight tolerance: 500g.4. Each athlete is weighed officially only once, and the result is recorded in the competition protocol.5. Athletes may use a scale for a trial measurement before official weigh-in.6. The organizer must provide a control scale for athletes.7. At official weigh-in, athletes must present:

A valid medical certificate stating “fit to compete in MMA or Ju Jutsu tournaments”, issued by a Polish sports medicine doctor.

For athletes under 23 years old, a certificate signed by a primary care physician is acceptable.

Proof of payment of the entry fee.

Photo ID.
⚠️ Digital documents or copies are not accepted.

8. Athletes must weigh in wearing:

Shorts (men).

Swimsuit or sports underwear (women).

9. Medical examinations are valid for 12 months. Validity is confirmed by the doctor’s personal stamp.

If the athlete does not have an official sports medical booklet, they may be admitted with a doctor’s certificate containing the statement “fit to compete in MMA or Ju Jutsu tournaments”.

Additional Information

Injury and Medical Assistance

In case of an injury, the match should be paused for up to 3 minutes, the necessary time for the doctor to provide assistance.

During one round, an athlete may receive medical assistance only twice, and the total time of medical intervention may not exceed six minutes.

A third medical break automatically results in disqualification.

After hearing the doctor’s opinion, the Mat Referee decides on penalties and resumption of the match (note: the cause of the situation must be taken into account).

If the doctor does not allow the athlete to continue due to injury, the opponent wins, provided they did not break the rules. If they did, the injured athlete is declared the winner.

Appeals

After the end of the match, an appeal against the result may be submitted to the Head Referee.

The party filing the appeal must provide a clear video recording of the fight, which will serve as the basis for the decision.

If the Head Referee considers the recording insufficiently clear, the appeal will not be considered.

In case of an appeal against the decision of the match referee, the Head Referee may uphold it or change it if:

The change directly and visibly affects the match result (e.g., point deduction). In such cases, the verdict changes automatically.

The change concerns a disqualification or a decision whose impact on the match cannot be determined (e.g., action interruption). In such cases, the match must be repeated.

In case of an appeal against the decision of the mat judges, the Head Referee may uphold it or order a re-evaluation of the fight based on video footage by three referees.

Referees

The Head Referee supervises the entire competition and is the superior of all referees.

Each fight is conducted by one Mat Referee.

The Mat Referee controls the mat condition and athletes’ equipment, ensures safety, enforces rules, starts, stops, and ends the match, gives warnings, issues penalties, and disqualifies athletes.

The Point Referee signals irregularities to the Mat Referee and evaluates the match after it ends.

The Time Referee signals the beginning and end of rounds.

Referees issue commands in Japanese or English.

The Head Referee may change a Mat Referee’s decision in cases of:

Incorrect score summation.

Refereeing error.

Participants

Each participant is required to have their own medical examination and personal accident insurance (NNW), either individually or provided by their coach.

Age classification is based on the full calendar year, regardless of month of birth.

Competition System

All matches are held in a knockout system with a minimum of 2 or 4 competitors.

If there are 3 competitors, the matches are conducted in a round-robin system (each against each).

In each weight category, one first place, one second place, and one third place are awarded.

A category is considered valid if at least 2 athletes register.

Athletes may move to another category with the Head Referee’s approval.

A separate team classification is maintained, with separate results for each age category.

For a weight category to count towards the team classification, at least 2 athletes from different clubs must compete in it.

Doping

1. The use of doping substances in any form is prohibited.

2. Athletes, coaches, referees, and competition staff who use doping substances are subject to penalties.
